What have I learnt from textile theory this semester?

Textile theory module was very informative and allowed me to learn in dept on textile composition, texting finishing as well as how to care for different types of fabric. Before joining this course, my textile vocabulary was very limited and now I am happy to say that I am able to identify fabrics easily when I see garments. Textile Theory introduces the core elements of textiles and the factors that influence the cost, aesthetic, comfort, durability, care, safety, function and performance of textile products. Knowing the fabric and the composition is very important especially when we are picking out the fabric for our final garment because the type of fabric we pick up will determine the drape, silhouette and aesthetic. The structure of a textile, woven or knitted, comprises unique qualities that help determine the shape of the final design.
